New Requirements by Texas Law
New law states that your name on your driver’s license must exactly match the name on your voter registration card or you will be required to show another form of identification that matches. To change your name or address on your drivers license please visit: https://txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/txdl/welcome.dl?locale=en_US
If you do not present valid identification and/or the name on the identification is not similar you will have to vote a provisional ballot. You will have 6 (six) calendar days to bring your ID to the Voter Registrar to have your ballot counted.
Similar Name Notification
Texas law now requires a PHOTO IDENTIFICATION to be shown when voting. §63.001 New legislation requires the voter’s name on the photo identification presented by the voter when voting in person to exactly match the name on the list of registered voters. If the name is substantially similar, then the voter will be required to initial an affidavit stating that the voter is the person on the list of registered voters each time the voter votes in person. Significantly different names may result in the voter only being able to vote provisionally. Your name on the Official List of Registered Voters is not an exact match to the name listed on your Texas Driver’s License or DPS-issued ID. To update your information, you may submit a new voter registration application to our office in person or by mail or go online (to update in same county only) to: https://txapps.texas.gov/tolapp/sos/SOSACManager
